what is an arangetram?
It is a first performance following years of training. The dance debut is a completion of sorts, but it is equally a beginning. The dancer can now move forward and pass on the art form to other aspiring learners of the art. To perform an arangetram is an old tradition, which marks the pathway for a dancer to then perform alone or be able to give training to other dancers. It symbolizes the beginning of an artistic journey of enquiry and knowledge.
what do you wear to an arangetram?
This is a formal event like a musical concert or a formal graduation. Most people will be in formal or semi-casual attire. This is just a guideline for you if you wish to dress so.
what do you bring to an arangetram?
The answer to this is varied. Just like a graduation or a concert, some bring gifts or flowers. We are requesting no gifts for this event.
